No technical prerequisites
Move from blind consumption to controlled governance with Gologic’s training on GitHub Copilot: optimizing usage costs.
This hands-on training helps you understand token-based billing and put simple safeguards in place to maximize the value delivered by the tool.
No technical prerequisites
This training is designed for all GitHub Copilot users involved in software delivery, regardless of experience level or the technology stack used by their team. No technical prerequisites are needed to benefit from it.
It is especially well suited to organizations that want to equip their teams to navigate the new token-based billing model, avoiding budget overruns while preserving the tool’s productivity gains.
The training is divided into three progressive modules.
It begins with understanding the new billing structure: tokens, AI credits, consumption by feature, what remains included versus what can generate costs, and the right places to monitor usage in order to anticipate overages.
The training then moves into concrete strategies for reducing costs without reducing value: choosing the right Copilot tool for each task (the fundamentals are covered in our GitHub Copilot training), limiting token waste through better prompts and fewer iterations, and managing the use of agents, advanced models, MCP, and extensions (a topic explored in depth in our agentic GitHub Copilot training).
Finally, the training concludes with advanced optimizations covering the choice between skills, agents, custom instructions, and MCP, the creation of AI-ready documentation reusable by the team, and structuring context using temporary files, plans, and summaries.
You will learn to understand token-based billing precisely, rather than absorbing overages at the end of the month, and to identify the most costly usage patterns before they weigh on your budget.
You will put in place simple safeguards that can be applied as soon as the day after the training.
This training will allow you to choose the right Copilot tool for each task, reducing token waste caused by poor prompts or unnecessary context.
You will also master more advanced levers such as skills, agents, and the Model Context Protocol (MCP), as well as the creation of AI-ready documentation reusable by your team.
By adopting this posture of vigilance, you will turn your team into a performant and responsible user of artificial intelligence.
An artificial intelligence expert at Gologic in Montreal, Justine designs and deploys AI solutions that improve IT teams’ productivity. She focuses on automating code generation, migrations, impact analysis, and infrastructure oversight, helping organizations accelerate their projects without compromising quality or security.
Before joining Gologic, she worked at Moderne, where she integrated AI tools for large-scale code modernization and led a strategic partnership with Mila. Trained at McGill and Mila, she specialized in Machine Learning for Code (ML4Code) and graph neural networks, exploring code generation in complex environments.
Co-author of the book AI for Mass-Scale Code Refactoring and Analysis (O’Reilly, 2024) and a regular speaker (ICSME, Devnexus, ÜberConf, TechDebt), Justine serves on the TechDebt Industry track program committee.
At Gologic, she leads the AI business line, guiding development teams in generative AI adoption to maximize concrete results at a pivotal moment for the industry.
